For local outreach, my team serves a homeless community underneath a bridge in downtown Louisville. We have seen tons of fruit from this ministry previously. I was really excited to see what God would do but I definitely didn’t expect this:
During our first time there, we encountered a man we'll call JD who didn’t really seem interested in talking at first. Eventually, he began to share his life story. Over the course of the conversation he shared years of hard circumstances and frustration with the church.
Eventually, he began to share his life story.
One thing he talked about a lot was his drinking problem and how he felt the need to fix that before he could ever open a Bible. Towards the end of our conversation, we discovered that he had broken his fingers in a motorcycle accident months earlier. One of the girls on our team prayed for healing over his fingers and told him we’d see him in a week.
We told him it wasn't her that healed him but God.
This past week when we went back. John shared with us that three days prior, his fingers had been completely healed from the pain he was experiencing! He kept repeating, “I don’t know what that girl did for me, but I’m so shaken up.” We told him it wasn't her that healed him but God. As a result of seeing the power of God in his life, he had also stopped drinking for the first time in 39 years and had finally opened his Bible!
He shared with us that his life felt like it was on the verge of a turning point.
He shared with us that his life felt like it was on the verge of a turning point. He had to decide which direction to go moving forward. God is moving in this man’s heart through healing and personal connection! Please pray for his continued transformation and acceptance of Jesus as his savior.
Fantastic Johanna!
