We sat down with one of our new DTS students, Janelle, to ask her a few questions about how she came to do a DTS and what God has taught her so far. Here’s what she said:

Q: What made you decide to do a DTS?

A: “After I finished high school I started working. It was great and I did that for over a year, but I started feeling stuck at work. I ended up talking to two people that did a DTS at YWAM Louisville and they prayed for me and encouraged me to take five months to do it. After we talked, the idea to take those five months to grow in my relationship with God, to be discipled and go to the nations to preach the Gospel woud not leave my heart.”

Q: How was the proccess for you to get here?

A: “I wasn’t sure about coming. I didn’t know how God was going to provide and I had a car loan I needed to pay. But this idea wouldn’t leave my heart and as I prayed, things started happening. He even gave me a new job wich allowed me to save some extra money to pay for my DTS!”

Q: Were there things you had to give up in order to come?

A: “Absolutely! I was comfortable where I was. And also, leaving my family and not being able to spend quality time with them (especially my mom) sounded a little scary to me. But I found a community here that welcomed me with open arms and they made this transition a little smoother for me.”

Q: Did God show you anything through that process?

A: “He showed me that He’s got my back and that He always provides.”

Q: What has God been showing  you since being in DTS?

A: “He has shown me that I need to trust Him more with my whole heart and stop trying to control things. He told me to stop worrying and being anxious because He has me and my family. I’ve always had structure and I liked it, it’s hard to let go of control, but God has been taking me through what it means to fully trust Him.”
